How My Eid Morning Beauty Routine Helped Me Appreciate The Celebration
Why is the getting ready part always so good?
Thank you so much for subscribing to my newsletter, FACE VALUE , the feel good beauty digital space! This is an extra newsletter, to celebrate Eid, I hope you enjoy and if you do like the post, please share with others who might find it interesting, and comment and all that good stuff :)
First things first, how has Eid crept on us so quickly? For Muslims across the globe, yesterday marked the start of Eid Al-Adha. This Eid is special in that it’s a sort of reset. The day of Arafah is all about rebooting your old life and starting with a clean slate. Living in the West, Eid can feel like more of a normal day, which is a stark difference to how things are done in the Middle East. But the celebration comes alive with how you choose to spend the day, and I’ve learned that it’s all about the small details, ultimately the we hold the power.
Personally, my beauty routine sets the tone for my day. A special day starts with an elaborate and luxurious routine, while a less exciting day calls for a simple yet effective routine.
Every step of the process is part of something bigger and holds so much importance.
Eid is a day of traditions, family, love and community, but also your best clothing and presenting your best self. So while a beauty routine may seem frivolous, it’s a pivotal factor in the Eid morning custom. I don’t know about you, but the tales of Eid mornings in my household are legendary. It’s completely manic in the best way possible as we rush to get ready for the Congregational Eid prayer. There is definitely some operating on a Eid high going on, as most Muslims know there is very little sleep the night before Eid. There are no let-ups when it comes to my Eid beauty routine. Every step of the process is part of something bigger and holds so much importance but also because coming all together and getting together in the same house means we’re on a time crunch.
My Eid morning beauty routine is about connection. As anyone celebrating knows, the days can get extremely busy. So by having that moment of solitude for yourself, whether it's elaborate skincare routine or creating an intricate makeup look, the process of focusing on your beauty routine allows you to reflect on the importance of the day and appreciate the celebration it brings. It’s a ceremonial ritual, so many people can relate, the getting ready part for a special occasion is crucial and in some instances equally as important or a massive factor that can make or break the day.
For everyone celebrating, I hope you had the most incredible day and continue to celebrate for the three days in style.
I wanted to share a list of some of favourite products, that I use as part of my Eid morning beauty routine, some of my holy grail of products that never miss, only the best for Eid!
111Skin Rose Gold Brightening Mask - one of the very few sheet masks that actually does what it says on the tin.
MAC Hyper Real SerumizerTM Skin Balancing Hydration Serum - I am currently obsessed with this serum- moisturiser hybrid. It leaves the skin silky smooth, hydrated and creates the perfect canvas for your makeup to go on top of. I adore it, definitely one I will repurchase over and over.
E.L.F. Halo Glow Liquid Filter - I am the biggest Charlotte Tilbury flawless filter Stan but since discovering E.L.F. Version, I find myself grabbing this instead. I can’t quite place my finger on the difference, though it’s very subtle, it has little more coverage for sure and looks less shimmery on the skin, I think.
Hourglass Phantom Volumizing Glossy lip balm - It’s official, I’m in my lip gloss, lip balm era. they’re so easy to use, no fuss, no mirrors needed, and you’re left with the perfect wash of colour and glossy. I’ve recently discovered the Hourglass glossy lip balms, and it’s game over, they’re lovely! Non sticky and the colour range is beautiful, and they last pretty well, I have lips that just soak up all product.
Loved this!
